Vintage Fridays: Frank Robinson and Brooks Robinson, 1968 Topps #530

Talk about a loaded card. The Robinsons combined to lead the Orioles to four World Series in six years, and two World Championships. They each won an MVP award in Baltimore, and combined to hit 447 home runs for Baltimore. They are, of course, both in the Hall of Fame, both wearing a smiling bird cap on their bronze plaques. On this card, they appear poised to burst from the visitor's dugout and charge the field, striking fear in the hearts of their fleeing enemies. They are the mighty Robinsons of Charm City.

I love this card. My two baseball heroes on one card.

Great card Kevin!

Thanks guys! I spent much of my air travel time yesterday reading John Eisenberg's oral history of the Birds, so this card turned out to be a fitting dose of nostalgia.

Kevin, that's a nice book. Barnes and Noble has copies (used) for just a couple of bucks if anyone is interested. Probably at Amazon as well.

Greatness...both the players and the card.

Max - Yeah, nobody in baseball comes to mind, but the multiple Lewises of the 2000/01 Ravens Super Bowl team are a good football example: Ray, Jamal, Jermaine, and defensive coach Marvin. Maybe it's just a Baltimore thing!
